Canadian Residential Energy Recovery

Up to 3x More Hot Water for Showering. Cut Water Heating Bills by up to 40%.

In Canadian homes, water heating is the second-largest energy expense after space heating. Every winter, freezing cold municipal or well water (often 4°C to 10°C) drains your hot water tank in minutes. The ThermoDrain® TDX Series captures heat from outgoing shower water and recycles it instantly before it leaves your home. The result? Up to 3 times more hot water for back-to-back showers, without upsizing your tank or increasing your electric service panel.

Shower Comfort Breakthrough

How ThermoDrain Gives You 3x More Hot Water

Zero Extra Electricity or Gas Used

Normally, when you shower, icy cold water enters the bottom of your water heater, rapidly dropping the tank's temperature and forcing you to finish with a lukewarm shower. With ThermoDrain installed:

1. Preheats the Cold Water

Instead of entering your tank at a freezing 5°C to 8°C, the incoming water is pre-warmed to 22°C to 27°C by the drain heat exchanger.

2. Less Hot Water Depletion

Because the incoming water is already warm, your water heater uses only a fraction of its stored hot water to maintain the perfect 40°C shower.

3. Up to 3x Longer Showers

A standard 40-gallon or 60-gallon tank behaves like a giant 120-gallon commercial system during simultaneous showering—no more morning cold-shower arguments.

Fastest Canadian Payback

Why the TDX3240 Delivers the Highest Return in Home Energy

Starts at ~$250 CAD (Equipment Only, 3" × 24")

In Canadian home energy efficiency, true return on investment comes down to cost per percentage of energy saved. While heat pump retrofits, exterior insulation, or triple-pane windows cost $8,000 to $15,000+ with 10- to 20-year payback cycles, the compact ThermoDrain TDX3240 (24" length) delivers 33.59% certified heat recovery for approximately $250 CAD:

Lowest Cost Per % Efficiency ~$7.45 CAD / 1% Recovered

Unrivaled capital efficiency compared to any other home green building measure.

Rapid Payback Window 1.5 to 3 Years

Recovers its entire cost through lower Hydro bills, continuing to deliver free energy for decades.

Compact 24-Inch Design Fits Low Basements

Engineered for tight vertical stacks, split-levels, crawlspaces, and basement finished ceilings.

Engineered for Canadian Homes: Pure Copper Core & Rugged Armor

Why ThermoDrain TDX combines premium metals for unmatched lifetime durability and instantaneous heat transfer.

100% High-Purity Copper Interior Core

All heat transfer occurs through heavy-gauge, high-conductivity copper. Copper transfers heat up to 20 times faster than stainless steel and 1,000 times faster than plastic, ensuring heat from falling shower water is captured in fractions of a second.

Rugged Protective Outer Jacket

The exterior is encased in a rigid protective jacket that shields the precision heat transfer coils from job-site impacts, basement bumping, and physical wear, providing unmatched structural rigidity.

How It Works: Clean, Simple Physics (In Plain English)

No pumps, no motors, no computer boards, and zero filters. Just natural heat transfer that never breaks down.

Step 1: Falling Film

Water Hugs the Pipe

When warm shower water (~38°C to 40°C) drains down your vertical stack, gravity and surface tension pull it to the inner copper wall, forming a thin, swirling film of water.

Step 2: Instant Transfer

Heat Moves to Fresh Water

Cold municipal water circulating upward through the outer copper coils instantly pulls the heat through the copper wall, pre-warming the incoming freshwater.

Step 3: Huge Savings

Hot Water Tank Relieved

The water heater receives 22°C–27°C pre-warmed water instead of freezing 5°C water. It uses up to 40% less energy and runs up to 3x longer before running cold!

100% Drinking Water Safety: CSA B55.2 Double-Wall Vented Protection

Can wastewater ever touch your drinking water? An absolute, physical NO.

Canadian homeowners often ask: "Is this safe for my family's drinking water?" Safety is engineered directly into every unit:

Two Independent Copper Walls

The drain pipe has its own heavy-gauge copper wall, and the clean water coil has its own completely separate wall. They never share a boundary.

Open-to-Air Vent Gap

Certified to CSA B55.2. If a leak were ever to develop after 40+ years of use, water would drip harmlessly out onto the basement floor rather than cross-contaminate your drinking water.

NRCan Listed & Canadian Certified

Third-party certified to CSA B55.1 and CSA B55.2, fully compliant with the National Plumbing Code of Canada (NPC), RBQ Chapter III, and listed on Natural Resources Canada (NRCan).

Straightforward Installation (Under 60 Minutes)

Any licensed Canadian plumber or capable DIYer can install a ThermoDrain TDX unit using standard plumbing glue and PEX crimp rings.

1. Check Vertical Clearance

Locate the vertical drain pipe carrying your shower water in the basement. Verify available straight pipe height to choose your model (24", 35", or 61.5").

2. Solvent Weld into Stack

Cut a section of existing ABS or PVC pipe. The TDX model's integrated sleeves glue directly with standard ABS/PVC solvent cement—no awkward rubber boots required.

3. Route to Water Heater

Connect your incoming cold main to the lower 3/4" factory PEX fitting and route the preheated top line directly into the cold inlet of your water heater. Done for the next 40+ years!
