The TDX Series Advantage: Zero Soldering, Faster Installs

The new TDX Series (TDX3240, TDX3350, TDX3615) is purpose-built to reduce man-hours on busy jobsites.

Factory-Integrated PEX Ports: Eliminates the need to purchase separate copper-to-PEX adapters or solder near structural framing. Units arrive pre-equipped with 3/4" integrated crimp PEX ports compatible with ASTM F1807 / F1960 plumbing systems.

Compact Layout Profiles: The 24" TDX Compact and 35" TDX Builder Pro are optimized to fit tight structural floor joists, low-clearance basements, and multi-family stacked plumbing drops.

Core Installation Guidelines and Best Practices

To maintain performance metrics and satisfy municipal plumbing inspections, ensure all field installations adhere to the following criteria:

Orientation: ThermoDrain units must be installed vertically to achieve the falling film thermodynamic effect. Horizontal installation invalidates CSA performance metrics.

Counter-Flow Principle: The cold water mains intake must always be connected to the bottom port of the coil, and the preheated water exit must leave from the top port.

Unobstructed Design: The central copper core features completely smooth, continuous interior walls with zero internal restrictions, meaning standard residential waste lines can route through the stack seamlessly.

TDX Series Direct-Glue Installation: The TDX Series is engineered with integrated ABS connection hubs, allowing installers to solvent-weld (glue) the unit directly into standard ABS drain stacks using standard ABS cement—eliminating the need for separate mechanical couplings.

Approved Plumbing Configuration Layouts

Per national plumbing frameworks, the preheated water exiting the top of the ThermoDrain can be routed into the building infrastructure via three code-compliant methods:

  1. Equal Flow Configuration (Highest Efficiency Yield): Preheated water is split to feed both the cold-water inlet of the primary water heater AND the cold side of the shower's pressure-balance mixing valve. (Note: Not permitted by provincial code in Quebec).
  2. Water Heater Preheat Only: Preheated water feeds exclusively into the cold-water intake of the water heater (ideal for restrictive layouts or tankless systems where it boosts peak winter delivery flow rates by up to 75%).
  3. Fixture Preheat Only: Preheated water feeds exclusively into the cold side of the shower mixing valve.

Engineering Certifications and Compliance Labels

Rest assured that all specified ThermoDrain units carry third-party safety markings required to clear municipal structural audits:

Performance Verification: Independently tested and verified to CSA B55.1.

Potable Water Security: Certified to CSA B55.2 featuring a safe, double-wall separation barrier paired with an integrated vented leak path to guarantee zero cross-contamination.
