ECOINNOVATION TO RELEASE CANADIAN WIDE STUDY ON THE BUILDER COST OF INSTALLING DRAIN WATER HEAT RECOVERY PROGRAM

November 26, 2015

EcoInnovation has asked builders across Canada what there plumbing contractors are paying for the installation of a drain water heat recovery system. It is comforting to see that the average cost for a typical new home installation is $150 including parts (excluding the drain water heat recovery unit). The lowest price we have come across was in Quebec where several builders have it as part of their package and are currently paying $75 including parts.

The most expensive pricing for labour and parts was found in both Quebec and Manitoba. An incredible $1200 and $1500 for the labour alone.

It is important to note that it takes 30 minutes and less than 20$ in parts to perform an installation of a drain water heat recovery system. It is also important that the installation cost be part of the entire plumbing package and not an add on.
